1869 - From the Vice-President's Diary. On the night of the 4th and 5th of February 1869, the entire college is in a few hours reduced to ashes. The loss was complete. 10 months after the on December 7, 1869 the college reopened to 45 boys from Mobile, AL and Louisiana.
